Crazy Cravings

Your Daddy's right, I've been craving more with this pregnancy than either of my other two.  However, my cravings haven't been the healthiest options:

Twizzlers
Skittles
Poptarts
Grape juice
Apples with caramel dip
Twix or Snickers
Mint chocolate chip ice cream
Port wine cheese
Avocados
Carrots
Strawberries
Candy corn
Cheetos
Eggo waffles
Scrambled eggs with ketchup
Anything with ketchup

Needless to say, I haven't given in to all of them...but we definitely have a box of blueberry poptarts in the pantry right now.  :)  I've been trying my best to give you a combination of what you want (or maybe what I want...) and what you need.  Hopefully you're getting the nutrients to grow strong and healthy in there!  Kick once if you're hungry.  ;)

A Second Glimpse

You gave me a little bit of a scare today when the doctor couldn't find your heartbeat with the fetal doppler.  I wasn't too worried, though; with my morning sickness being as strong as it is, I knew you still had to be healthy in there!  On the bright side, that meant that I got to have another ultrasound and see your sweet little image up on the screen again.  This time I could even make out your little hands and feet!  Everything looked good according to Dr. Jackson.  Next time we see you you'll be looking even more like the little person you'll be when we finally meet you.  I can't wait!

Valentine's Day Surprise

We got some very unexpected news on Valentine's Day this year in the form of a package sitting in our mailbox.  The package was from Aunt Megan and Uncle Daniel and had very specific instructions not to open it until Valentine's Day.
Inside was a box of delicious chocolate candies.  Inside the box of chocolate candies was a little hand-made book entitled: The Girl Who Cried Wolf.  As soon as I read the title I knew.  "Michael, get over here!  I think your sister's pregnant!"  As we turned the pages, the message became obvious: Aunt Megan is going to have a baby!
We called her and Uncle Daniel immediately to congratulate them and get the details. What made it even more surprising (and crazy) was that they played a trick on us at Christmas time giving us notes saying: "Year of Babies!   ...please turn over...  Just kidding!  We're not pregnant."
The craziest part...her baby is due on September 7th - the exact same day as you!  Looks like you'll have plenty of playmates no matter where we go! And I get to share this pregnancy almost to the day with your Aunt Megan.  :)

The Swirling Vortex of Terror

...Also known as my stomach.  As soon as I knew you were in there I was preparing myself for the morning sickness I always get.  You, however, have totally outdone yourself.  Daddy agrees that this time around has been much more frequent and much more violent than the first two ever were.

I now decide what I'm going to eat based both on how it will taste going down as well as how it will taste on the way back up.  For example, pickles taste delicious on the way down, but they have been crossed off the list because they are the WORST regurgitated.  Most fruits are on the vomit-friendly list, as well as juice (especially orange juice, although this almost always ends up coming back out).

I keep telling myself, though, this is a good thing.  You must have a tight grip in there because I'm feeling it out here!  As long as you're getting enough nutrients, I can handle a few burst blood vessels on my face.  :)

Briggs Triplets

Today was a very special day, your Uncle Nathan and Aunt Ashley had their baby boy, Jensen Fisher Briggs.  He was born this morning at 3:10am, was 7lbs, 11oz and 20 inches long; a beautiful baby boy!
What makes this even more special is that all of my siblings (Uncle Nathan, Uncle Lucas and me) are having babies this year!  Jensen is the first to arrive.  Your Aunt Dayna is expecting a baby girl at the end of June.
And, of course, you are due at the beginning of September.  :)  Your big sister Ellie was a part of the Messmer "triplets" when she was born (Christian, Ellie and Ari were all born within the same 9 months).  Now you will be a part of the Briggs "triplets" since the three of you will be born within 9 months of each other too!  What a special bond you will have with your cousins.  :)

The Year Of Babies

This year, 2015, the Briggs family is expecting three grandchildren!  All of the "Briggs kids" (Lucas, Nathan and I) are having babies this year.  Uncle Nathan and Aunt Ashley are expecting their third little boy, Jensen in the beginning of February.  Uncle Lucas and Aunt Dayna are due at the end of June.  Daddy and I are planning for your arrival around Labor Day in September this year.  Three in one year!

Needless to say, Grandma and Grandpa are over-the-moon excited.  All of their babies are having babies!  (Not to mention, my cousin Melissa is due in April along with Aunt Dayna's sister, Leigh, and both of my cousins Kim and Alyson are due this summer!)

Although your Aunt Megan may not be pregnant this year, she was right - it is definitely the year of babies!  :)

**A short time after writing this post, Aunt Megan announced that she IS in fact pregnant!!  Here's to one more baby!
